Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect from a lesson?
A lesson’s structure is dependent on a client’s experience and learning style. Typical lessons consist of a 10-minutes warm-up followed by a “dive in” approach to learning a song of the student’s choice. Theory is incorporated into the learning experience at a gradual pace, threaded throughout the lesson in a way that is engaging and fun for the client.
How long are lessons?
A typically lesson lasts 1 hour. For young beginners, starting with 30-minute lessons can be beneficial for building skills without risking the student losing focus.
Where and when do lessons occur?
Billy offers in-home lessons, as well as lessons via Skype. Schedules are flexible and customized to the client’s needs.
I don’t own a drum kit. Do I need one to start lessons?
Absolutely not. Rudimentary skills can be taught on a practice pad, buckets, couch pillows—all types of surfaces! It is very normal for clients to start out with nothing but a pair of sticks.
